Hampton Court Palace is one of the largest and best-known palaces in the UK. Building started in 1515 for Cardinal Wolsey, who soon gave it to Henry the VIII in an attempt to restore his good standing with the King. Over the next 200 years the Palace was expanded and altered, passing from the Tudors to the Stuarts and eventually to George II, who was the last King to live there.
